Correct installation is imperative for Monimoto to work properly. The good news is that it is very easy to achieve this if you follow these rules:
- For MM1-MM6 the thinner end (the one that has GPS letters on it) must be pointing upwards or outwards, rather than inwards or to the ground. / For Monimoto 7 and Monimoto 9 the front of the device (where the logo is) should be facing upwards or outwards, rather than inwards or to the ground.
- Make sure that the Monimoto end with the GPS letters/MM logo does not touch any metal part of your bike.
- Never put Monimoto in an enclosed metal environment, as radio waves cannot travel through metal.
- Hide it properly so that thieves cannot detect it.
Tip: If you keep the vehicle near your house, within 50 meters (160 ft) - make sure that the Key Fob and the device do not keep the connection between them. If this is the case, the alarm will not start until the bike is out of the connection range. If your bike is outside and the Key Fob is inside, the connection range can vary from a few meters to 30 meters (100 ft), as the walls and other objects will impact it.
How to test if the Key Fob connects to Monimoto?
Leave the Key Fob at home where you usually keep it. Go to your bike and connect with the app from the "Settings" tab. Check if your Key Fob shows any signal. Refresh by swiping down if needed.
If the connection is still present - we suggest to find a different place at home to keep your Key Fob or simply place it in a metal box and reduce the Key Fob connection range.
